I know I´m not the norm when it comes to sleeping 8 hours a night. I´ve been a sleepyhead all my life, up until now. I´m 55, and I believe that sleeping enough really helps me look and feel my best.

Most women struggle to get even 6 hours in every night, and perhaps you are one of them. If you´re wondering what you can do to get the shuteye you need and deserve on a nightly basis, here are some tips from Zack Holland, co-founder and designer at Cloudten.

4 life-hacks for better sleep and healthy aging

  1. Follow the 10, 3, 2, 1 rule. This means that 10 hours before bed, you should stay away from caffeine, 3 hours before bed you need to stay away from food and alcohol, and 2 hours before bed, you really must abstain from work. One  hour before bed, make sure to turn off all your screens.
  2. Have a consistent routine. Establish a ritual before you go to bed, and make sure you go to bed at around the same time every day.
  3. Make sure your bedsheets are the best they can be. After all, you spend a third of your life in bed, on average; the fabric touching your skin should be chemical-free and made in a healthy and holistic environment
  4. Don’t allow people into your space who you don’t trust or who make you anxious. Avoid arguments in your room. It´s a sacred space, leave it that way.
