I’m an active 54-year old, but the onset of menopause a few years ago threatened to slow me down. Some days, I was so exhausted I had to go straight to bed after my morning yoga class. After a nap, it was all I could do to summon enough energy to go about my day. My life involves raising three teens, freelance writing and running my business, Viva Fifty. Aside from physical exhaustion, I was also experiencing brain fog, one of the many possible side effects of perimenopause and menopause. This was hard to deal with because my work requires me to be mentally nimble. I’m also an author, and I had a lot of trouble concentrating when I was writing my latest book. To say that I was frustrated is a huge understatement.
I’m always open to new ways of regaining my stamina and mental alertness. When I first learned that increasing our levels of a molecule in our cells called NAD+ (nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide) can help offset some of the unpleasant side effects of aging, like low energy levels and lack of focus, I was curious. Over the years, sun exposure (which I had my share of when I was younger), excessive food and alcohol consumption can depress our cellular metabolism and negatively affect our cellular health. These stressors can lower our levels of NAD+, which is a critical coenzyme that helps keep our cells healthy.
When given the opportunity to experience the benefits of taking TRU NIAGEN™, I was expectant. I knew the supplement contains nicotinamide riboside (NR), a nutrient that is used by the body to create NAD+. Although the effects of TRU NIAGEN™ supplementation vary from person to person, in only a couple of weeks, I experienced not only greater energy, but also clear-headedness and increased focus.
I noticed the improved mental clarity when recapping my day to my husband one evening. I realized I had been working without using my earbuds, which I rely on to listen to concentration music on YouTube while I write. I also found I was being way more productive, getting a lot more done in the same amount of time. This is a welcome benefit that I’m super grateful for!
I also noticed I had a more regular sleep schedule—I’m finding that I can fall asleep earlier even though I’m a night owl. I honestly have not needed an alarm in the mornings, and have been consistently waking up an hour earlier than usual. I haven’t felt the need to nap most days.
Physically, I’ve also noticed a change. I practice yoga daily, for at least an hour, but that’s that. Lately, some days, I’ve felt like adding a long walk or a run. I hadn’t done this in a long time. I usually reserve running for when I feel really stressed out and need to burn off some steam. But I’ve enjoyed doing both activities, yoga and running, in the same day. I really didn’t think I’d be able to enjoy such levels of energy again anytime soon.
I’m truly a happy camper now. I´m loving the improved sleep, greater focus and increased vitality I am feeling everyday day! I’ve read the comments of people on Facebook who also take TRU NIAGEN™ and apparently I’m in good company.
