Katya Eckert Created Pajamas for Women Who Sleep Hot

I recently discovered Adomani Sleepwear, founded by Katya Eckert, and I have to start by saying this: I’ve already worn one of the pieces out of the house.

Technically, it’s sleepwear. But the long, flowy racerback dress I tried looks enough like a regular dress that I wore it to run errands and to the park. Then I slept in it, which is the whole point, and I slept really well. It didn’t bunch up around my legs, it felt cool on my skin, and it was comfortable.

Adomani is made for women who sleep hot, sweat at night, have hot flashes, sensitive skin, or are dealing with all the fun hormonal things that can happen postpartum, during perimenopause, menopause, cancer treatment, or just life.

Katya told me she designed the pieces to be worn in and out of the house because night sweats and hot flashes don’t only happen at night.

“For us women who are going through night sweats or hot flashes, it’s not just contained to the nighttime,” she said.

It Started With Postpartum Night Sweats

Katya didn’t set out to create sleepwear for menopause. Her own experience began after she had her first child at 36.

She had intense postpartum night sweats and had no idea that could happen.

“I had really crazy night sweats,” she told me.

She was already waking up to nurse her daughter, and when she wasn’t waking up to feed the baby, she was waking up to change her pajamas. I had my first child at 37, so this brought back memories.

Back then, I wore cotton pajamas because that was what existed. I remember being soaked and uncomfortable, but I don’t remember thinking, “There must be something better.” I just thought, well, this is motherhood now.

Katya wanted pajamas that kept her cool, felt good on sensitive skin, and didn’t make her feel like she was wearing matching pajamas with her baby.

“I couldn’t find something that kept me cool and comfortable and felt good on my body,” she said.

About a year later, her husband told her she might have a real business idea. She had looked for something that worked and couldn’t find it. Maybe other women were looking, too.

Then she went deep into the fabric

Katya did not have a background in textiles. She had worked in finance, sales, and customer service. But once she started researching fabric, she really went for it.

“I became obsessed with textile science,” she said. “I didn’t go to school for fiber science, but I took myself through school for fiber.”

She looked at hundreds of fabrics before deciding what to use. And what she landed on was trees.

Adomani uses TENCEL modal and TENCEL lyocell, which are tree-based fibers made from sources like eucalyptus, birch, pine, spruce, and beechwood.

“What I wound up figuring out was that the best thing to manage sweat, to manage heat, to manage our skin is actually trees,” Katya said.

The fabric is meant to pull moisture away from the body, spread it through the fiber, and help it evaporate. In normal-person language, it is not supposed to trap sweat against your skin.

My Dress Was Made in Portugal

One detail I noticed right away is that my Adomani dress was made in Portugal.

That stood out to me because when I lived in Spain, we used to cross the border into Portugal to buy sheets and towels. Portugal is known for textiles, so seeing that on the label immediately made sense.

Katya said Portugal was always her “north star” for manufacturing.

“We make it in Portugal. I visit our factories. I visit our mills,” she said.

She also works with a woman-owned and woman-run manufacturing partner. I love knowing that. I want to know the story behind what I’m buying, especially when it’s from a woman-owned business.

I would rather buy from someone like Katya than from a huge corporation when I can.

Her Mother Wore Adomani During Cancer Treatment

One of the most moving parts of our conversation was when Katya talked about her mother.

Her mother had breast cancer twice. During her second diagnosis, Katya had just started the company, was newly pregnant with her second child after years of infertility, and was also caring for her terminally ill mother.

Her mother wore Adomani throughout treatment and hospice.

“She wanted to wear Adomani the entire time she was in treatment, day, night,” Katya said.

Katya told me her mother’s skin had become extremely sensitive during treatment, and Adomani was the only thing that felt good on her.

“It was the only thing that felt good on her skin,” she said.

Her mother eventually passed away wearing Adomani.

My mother-in-law has had breast cancer twice. She is alive, but she still has lasting issues from treatment, including skin sensitivity.

So when Katya talked about women dealing with chemotherapy, radiation, hormone therapy, medically induced menopause, or surgically induced menopause, I understood why this is not just about “cute pajamas.”

“It’s a way to honor my mom every day to do this work and to honor her memory,” Katya said.

The Name Means “Until Tomorrow”

Adomani comes from the Italian phrase meaning “until tomorrow.”

Katya is of Russian descent, but she has always loved travel and Romance languages. She liked the feeling behind the phrase. Not goodbye forever. Just until tomorrow.

For many women over 40, sleeping until tomorrow can feel like a dream. Hormones, stress, kids, caregiving, grief, work, and all the tabs open in our brains can make one uninterrupted night of sleep feel like some kind of luxury retreat.

“All we want is an uninterrupted night of sleep,” Katya said.

Why These Pajamas Cost More

Adomani is not inexpensive, and Katya is very straightforward about that.

She said the price reflects the fabrics, the way the garments are made, the quality control, and the fact that they are made in Portugal.

“We are on the higher end of the pajama price point, and we’re there because of how much we’ve prioritized the material and how it’s made,” she said.

I appreciated that because I think many of us are funny about what we’ll spend money on.

I won’t think twice about spending on my phone, my hair, skincare, a massage, or workout clothes. I am very into self-care and always have been. But pajamas? A lot of women still think, “Oh, I’ll just sleep in an old T-shirt.”

Katya’s point is that sleep is not a small thing.

“Our sleep is our job,” she said. “It’s one thing that every single person will do for a third of their life.”

Of course pajamas are not going to solve every sleep problem. They won’t fix stress, hormones, insomnia, or your brain replaying something you wish you’d said differently five years ago.

But if you are waking up hot, sweaty, or irritated by what you’re wearing, the right fabric can help.

“Will your pajamas save your sleep? Maybe,” Katya said. “It’s a supportive thing that you can do for yourself.”

The Brand Took Off

Katya started the company in 2022, but she says 2025 felt like the first real year in business.

After her mother died and her son was born, she had to slow down. But she kept connecting with doctors and people talking about menopause, breast cancer prevention, women’s health, and hormone-related symptoms.

In January 2025, she received a message from Dr. Jessica Shepherd, one of the physicians she had sent samples to. Adomani had been included in Oprah Daily’s list of top menopause products.

Soon after, Katya was invited on CBS Mornings. “We sold out that morning, basically,” she said.

Her family helped pack orders for days. She said it felt unbelievable, and I can imagine. One day, you are trying to explain why the world needs this thing you made, and then, suddenly, the world is ordering it.

It’s Sleepwear, But It Doesn’t Look Like Pajamas

One of the things I like most about Adomani is that the pieces feel like something I can sleep in, lounge in, or wear outside. Katya said that was intentional from the beginning.

The Signature Collection has a slightly heavier, fluid drape. The newer Golden Hour Collection, which includes the dress I have, is lighter and thinner but still not see-through.

Katya explained the fabric details in a very fabric-geek way, and I mean that as a compliment. She knows her stuff.

What I can say is this: the fabric feels good. It feels cool. It feels smooth. And it does not feel like something that will fall apart after a few washes.

Where to Find Adomani

Adomani Sleepwear is available at adomanisleep.com and on social media under @adomanisleep. The brand is also expanding into healthcare boutiques and is available at Canyon Ranch boutiques.

After talking with Katya and wearing the dress myself, I get the appeal.

These are pajamas, yes. But they are also for women who are tired of waking up drenched, uncomfortable, or irritated by fabric that does not work with their bodies.

Whether the cause is postpartum, menopause, cancer treatment, hormone therapy, stress, or just sleeping hot, comfort matters.

Especially when all you want is to make it until tomorrow.
