3 Whipped greek yogurt dessert recipes

Eating healthy is on the top of my list, especially in midlife. As we age our metabolism slows down and it becomes more and more difficult to indulge in sugary desserts without gaining weight or wreaking havoc with our blood sugar levels.

In my quest for a tasty dessert that is also healthy, I was glad for the opportunity to sample Yoplait Greek 100 Whips!

These little guys are indeed Greek yogurt, a type of yogurt that everyone is talking about these days for its superior health benefits.

But the Yoplait Greek 100 Whips! are—like the name says—whipped yogurt.

They’re like a fluffy mousse dessert and come in 8 flavors including exotic ones like tropical, lemon meringue and vanilla cupcake.

But the best thing is that they’re 100 calories, have no fat and pack 9 grams of protein.

5 benefits of yogurt according to WebMD:

  • Yogurt may help prevent osteoporosis
  • May help reduce the risk of high blood pressure
  • Yogurt with culture is good for gastrointestinal health
  • Yogurt is beneficial for clearing up vaginal infections
  • It may help you feel fuller

These are all reasons to favor yogurt over other types of desserts, but eating yogurt, no matter how good it tastes, right out of the container can get old fast.

Delectable strawberry sundae using yogurt

I always add fruit or other tasty items to my yogurts to enhance the flavor.

Right now it’s strawberry season where I live in Florida. I added chopped strawberries to the strawberry flavored Yoplait Greek 100 Whips!

It was great.

It reminded me of a pure strawberry sundae with extra strawberries, but it was super low in calories and fat compared to a real ice cream sundae dessert.

Yogurt dessert with a Latino twist

For a more sinful but exotic dessert that is also low in fat and calories, I took the tropical flavored Yoplait Greek 100 Whips! and added crumbles of Maria cookies.

This snack hack has a real Latino flavor.

Maria cookies are light vanilla flavored cookies you can find in the Hispanic aisle of your local grocery store.

This dessert is a version of a dessert my mother used to make with chocolate and vanilla pudding.

But the fluffy texture of the Yoplait Greek 100 Whips! and the crunchiness of the Maria cookies, make for a real interesting combination.

Also, the flavor of the cookies doesn’t overpower the yummy flavor of the tropical flavor of the Yoplait Greek 100 Whips! which is kind of like a mango-pineapple mix.

Lemon meringue pie with banana chips

The offerings of this mousse-like greek yogurt is a real win if you’re into light snacks and desserts.

The Lemon Meringue, straight up without anything is like the filling of a pie.

I just used it as a dip to eat with the Maria cookies. Yeah, I can’t help myself.

But when you remove all the guilt by eating low calorie and low fat desserts, it kind of makes you feel good.

Paired with banana chips and a chocolate drizzle, even the kids enjoyed it.
