Juicy tips and 2 recipes to combat hot flashes

You really can experience a symptom-free menopause by eating and drinking your way out of those troublesome hot flashes and night sweats.

I know of women who have breezed through menopause as though nothing happened except for the cessation of their monthly period.

A symptom-free menopause

No hot flashes. No night sweats. No headaches. No heart palpitations. No shortness of breath, nervousness, or depression.

And it’s not just anecdotal.

A 2013 study published in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition analyzed what women eat and related various diets to having or not having menopause symptoms.

Not surprisingly a high vegetable and fruit diet (a Mediterranean-style diet) was associated with fewer menopause symptoms.

Another study also found that high sugar and high fat diets were associated with the highest rates of hot flashes.

FOODS TO LIMIT OR CUT OUT ENTIRELY

Sugar

Before stirring a teaspoon of sugar in your coffee or grabbing a cookie, you should know how sugar affects your body.

An increase in sugar intake also increases a woman’s blood sugar level, which in turn elevates body temperature, stress response, and heart rate. This contributes to hot flashes and night sweats.

Use only small amounts of healthy sweeteners such as stevia and coconut nectar.

Alcohol, antihistamines, caffeine, and diuretics

These substances tend to dry mucous membranes. Dry membranes contribute to vaginal dryness and irritation.

Drinking alcohol before bed is especially troublesome; it can worsen nocturnal hot flashes and night sweats.

Cigarettes

Menopausal women who smoke are more likely to experience hot flashes than nonsmoking women, due to the stimulating effects of nicotine.

Spicy foods

Go light on spicy foods. They can increase core temperature and exacerbate night sweats and hot flashes

HOW POWER JUICING CAN HELP EASE MENOPAUSE SYMPTOMS

Juicing offers powerful menopause help in a glass, so plug in your juicer and be on your way for a change for the better.

Choose juices that are helpful for the liver such as carrot, beet, and greens. Do a liver cleanse, too. A happy liver is key to getting rid of menopause symptoms.

Many people say they experience an improved sense of well-being after they begin juicing. You could also do a juice fast for two or three days.

A vegetable juice fast can truly help you feel rejuvenated.
